Community Outreach is supporting change in people challenged by complex and multiple needs – such as homelessness, addiction, mental health or other life-controlling issues. We work with key organisations across Mendip, to enable fast and effective access to a wide range of services. Our skilled and dedicated team provide short and long-term, person-centred support to create real life difference.
We can help anyone who lives in Mendip and is experiencing one or more of the following:
- Struggling with life-controlling issues (e.g. addiction or self-harm)
- Mental health
- Relationship problems
- Social isolation
- Learning difficulties
- Destructive behaviour
Drop In Clinic
We run a daily (no appointment required) session where new and existing service users can access our services and get connected with support. See below for times and locations, or take a look at our Calendar.
Rough Sleeper Outreach Service
We specialise in providing immediate and wide-ranging support (from housing to health) for anyone who finds themselves, or is reported to be, sleeping rough. In fact, we’re the primary referral point for Rough Sleeping in Mendip.
We offer a professional counselling service with a team of experienced, independent counsellors. All counsellors are members of BACP and are able to offer therapy on a wide range of lifestyle issues.
We run a range of activity groups to benefit service users, details will follow shortly
IT, Counselling, Pottery and many other activities are offered throughout the week
Mail Collection, Laundry & Showers
We can receive mail securely for anyone who is without a fixed address. We also offer a laundry service for only £2 per wash cycle and showers in Wells/Shepton Mallet.
We have a team of highly skilled Case Workers who are available to offer long-term and specific support, tailored to the needs of the service user: Journeying with someone until they can realise full independence.
We run a community lunch every Wednesday and every third Sunday (midday, in Wells). There is no set charge for the two-course meal although donations are welcome.
We offer opportunities for service users to improve their employability through volunteer and work programme placements, skills training and apprenticeships.
We have rooms available where agencies can meet with clients in a familiar, safe and welcoming environment, or run courses.
