Winter can be such a difficult time for many people across the country. Homelessness and rough sleeping are on the rise and have recently featured heavily across various national and local media platforms. Wet winter weather is unpleasant at the best of times but to have to endure this weather without a dry, warm house to go home to at the end of the day is an injustice.
Throughout the year here at Connect Centre we provide various services such as regular drop ins providing a place of community, friendship and food, emergency short term direct access accommodation, professional advice and advocacy work to help people find a home and much much more.
Severe Weather Emergency Provision
During the long winter months we also provide a nightly shelter known as ‘Severe Weather Emergency Provision’ which is provided when the weather is predicted to be below 0 for 3 nights or more. This service is able to run because of the committed and caring volunteers who support the staff in providing this service at a treacherous time of year for many. They are literally helping save people’s lives.
Elim Connect Centre is a faith based charity but we assure you that any donations given to this winter appeal will entirely go toward the work with those who are homeless and rough sleeping by way of providing food, shelter, warmth, expert advice, professional support and pathways to move on accommodation and wholistic therapeutic treatment.
As to be as clear as possible, your donation is not used for proselytisation or religious pomp but entirely to helping people. This is the same for both one of donations and regular monthly donations.
